Kim Kardashian West is a model, businesswoman, media celebrity, and actress. But just like everyone else, West is stuck at home in quarantine due to the novel coronavirus. Balancing home and work life in lockdown is not the easiest since she has to attend to her four energetic children at all hours of the day.
The West and Kardashian Family Are Taking State Rules Seriously
The Kardashian Family is following the instructions that the state of California has placed in response to the coronavirus. The California Department of Public Health is informing California residents to isolate at home and practice social distancing. Washing your hands, avoiding touching your face, staying away from crowds, and avoiding close contact with the sick are crucial for fighting this virus.
West made a webcam appearance on The View to discuss how at-home life has been treating her and her family. It has been tough for her and her family to stay apart. But they are doing what is necessary to soon be able to reunite again. “We are all taking this extremely seriously. We haven’t seen any sisters,” West said. “It’s been really hard. We make zoom dinners where we all get on. We all make our plates and then have dinner and talk. We’re on a group family chat all the time.”
This virus is causing restrictions in the world that many of us have never seen before. The West and Kardashian’s children are also having a challenging time being young, not quite understanding what’s going on, and being forced to stay away from their cousins. “Our kids haven’t seen each other. The cousins haven’t played together. That’s been really different for them too. We’re so close, we’re so used to hanging out,” West said.
West and her mother, Kris Jenner, were able to see each other in person during quarantine but did not forget to keep a distance to protect themselves. “My mom came over for the first time the other day, and we sat 6 feet apart and had a meal together. It was so good to go on a walk together, but we stayed so far apart,” West said. “We really are respecting the rules. We know what we have to do to fight this virus.”
Struggles of Parenthood During Quarantine
Being in isolation with four children is not the easiest task. Keeping each child occupied while also keeping them in a routine is tiring for any person to handle. “I’ve been doing laundry and cooking. The kids just got on spring break, thank god. I’m being their teacher too. My new found respect for teachers, they deserve so much,” West said. “It’s been tough juggling it all, and you really have to put yourself on the back burner and just focus on the kids.”
The quarantine has West rethinking her thoughts on adding more members to her family. “Let me say, being at home with four kids, if I ever thought for a minute that I wanted another one, that is out the door,” West said.
Isolation Has Allowed for Bonding Time
West and her family have a busy life. She said that isolation has allowed her and her husband, Kanye West, to have bonding time that they wouldn’t usually have. “I actually love that time because we do travel so much in our regular world,” West said. They don’t get the chance to just sit down and spend time together as much as they would want to.
Isolation has allowed for West and her children to have bonding time as well. “We are going on walks outside, we watched every movie you can imagine,” West said. “I’ve been showing the kids all these 80’s movies like Harry and the Hendersons and stuff that they wouldn’t usually watch, and it’s so much fun.”
West is cherishing the time she has with her family at home, even though it has been challenging. “I love all the family bonding stuff,” West said.
West joined in sharing safety tips in dealing with the coronavirus on E! Entertainment. Just because we all have to practice social distancing, it “doesn’t mean we’re alone,” West said. We are all in this together.
