As technology continues to evolve at a rapid rate, companies around the world are using the latest tech to create some of the most immersive entertainment experiences out there. 2019 saw tons of new strides across the entire gamut of the entertainment spectrum. Headphones, TVs, and video games have all had some brilliant new features introduced. Here are some of the most exciting entertainment innovations of 2019.
1. Google Stadia
First up on the list has to be Google’s revolutionary new game streaming service. Stadia allows gamers to keep playing even when they aren’t in front of their main pc or console. Google hosts each gameplay session on its cloud-based server. Whenever you want to switch devices, Stadia can beam the entire experience to another machine.
As long as you have a solid internet connection, you can play games anywhere on your phone, laptop, or tablet. These games run at higher resolutions and better framerates than if they were being played on physical hardware. Google plans to add tons of new games and features as the service matures.
2. Rollable OLED TVs
LG has been pushing the television industry forward over the last few years. Their latest invention, the rollable TV, is sure to be copied by the other manufacturers in due time. This technology allows you to both extend and retract your screen with the press of a button.
The monitor is controlled by a motor that rolls back into the aluminum base of the unit. You can choose to completely hide the screen, or leave it partially exposed. Leaving part of the screen up allows you to display information such as song titles or smart home settings.
3. Smart Noise-Canceling Headphones
Noise cancellation has revolutionized the way we listen to audio on the go. However, noise-canceling headphones have a bad reputation for horrible call quality. Bose set out to solve this issue by creating the first smart noise-canceling technology.
Their latest headset balances your voice with the acoustics of the environment you are in. Two earcups focus on your voice, while the other two take notice of the external world. All four of these cups balance out the sound during both phone calls and audio playback.
4. Alienware Area 51
Gaming laptops have always been a bit of a misnomer. Since you can’t normally upgrade your laptop’s hardware, you couldn’t keep up with the newest games that release each year. Dell has partnered with Alienware to create a laptop that functions more like a tower pc.
By removing a couple of screws, you can access the internals of the clamshell case. Once inside, you can easily swap out graphics cards or put in a stronger CPU. This allows avid gamers to play all the latest titles without buying a brand new laptop every year.
5. Mi.Mu Gloves
These gloves seemingly come right out of a Sci-Fi film. When wearing these gloves, you can compose music just by moving your hands around. Artist Imogen Heap first envisioned the idea over a decade ago. As of this year, every musician can get their hands on these gloves.
Each hand movement is tracked by a bevy of sensors and gyro accelerometers. Minute gestures can also be recorded with the fingertip sensors. Different motions can create pitches, record loops, and even playback previously recorded clips. The custom software, Glover, is easy to integrate with all the most popular professional production apps.
6. Huntsman Elite Mechanical Keyboard
Razer is a company that always gives gamers exactly what they crave. What gamers crave the most are responsive controls that keep up with every last input. The Huntsman Elite keyboard eliminates the slight input delay that’s been plaguing mechanical keyboards since their inception.
To register each input more quickly, Razer added an infrared laser under each key. This laser requires far less movement from the player in order to pick up on each stroke. The world of e-sports will undoubtedly be changed forever by this crucial upgrade.
